Matthew Barry agent: Fay Davies
Matthew trained and worked as an actor before moving into writing. Matthew’s original comedy series, GREY (co-created/written with Kayleigh Llewellyn) has been optioned by Company Pictures and is currently in development for the BBC.
Matthew was part of the BBC Writer’s Academy in 2010/2011 and a Broadcast Hotshot of 2011. He has written for DOCTORS, CASUALTY and EASTENDERS and continues to write for HOLBY CITY. Matt is also currently writing on WATERLOO ROAD.
Matthew was a recipient of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing forum, a nationwide competition to find the UK’s most promising comedy television writers. He was accompanied by BAFTA to the New York Television Festival where GREY was showcased.
ALLEN, another original returning series, is currently in development with Red Production Company. His political thriller, THE COMMON AIDE, is in development with Fiction Factory for BBC Wales.
In 2011 Matt’s episode of PERFECT SUMMER for Fiction Factory/BBC was nominated for a Welsh Bafta. He has worked on the online project ZEITGEIST for Red Productions/Numiko Ltd and co-developed the scripted reality show, BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS with Boomerang.
His original series FRIENDS OF DOROTHY was developed with Red Productions and his original children’s drama series CHARLIE BLAST was optioned by Fiction Factory for CBBC. He is currently adapting his one-off film for television DARK WOODS into a low budget feature.
